On ground floor the old cow barn is now a spacious summer living room full of light. The ancient mangers are now benches set on three side of the room. A double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower completes the ground floor. The first floor is reached either by going up a spiral staircase or by using the external staircase typical of Tuscan farmhouses. The core of the house is the sitting room whose windows overlook the trees. The kitchen-dining room is a large room with a beautiful fireplace decorated by local travertine (pink coloured stone). Walls have been painted in a washed blue colour, reminiscent of old peasant's kitchens. On first floor there are two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms with shower, a twin bedroom, a double bedroom and a bathroom with bathtub. Next to the main house a dependence has been appointed for a further four guests. The house features a living room with fireplace and an open-plan kitchen, a double bedroom and a twin bedded room, both with en-suite bathroom with shower.
Villa I Sassi will enchant you as soon as you arrive at the property. The house is built in stone in the original style of the Orcia Valley. A famous landscape gardener took care of the garden now boasting oak trees, almonds, plum trees, all loosely surrounding the house. Moreover there are many different species of Mediterranean plants filling the air with their scent. Once there was a vineyard from which an excellent wine was produced thanks to the stony soil. In the 70's the production was discontinued and now the vineyard has been replaced by fields of wheat, sunflowers, and rapeseed. In the past Villa I Sassi was a farmers home with the ground floor occupied by a cows' barn and the family living on first floor. This was a traditional sharecropping system which ended in the 1960's and many farmhouses, during the years, have been transformed into holiday villas. Villa i Sassi was restored in 2001 and now it is a bright and comfortable house along with a dependence.
